WHATS BUZZING
Ibiza Just Got Its Most Insane Venue Yet
Let's talk about what might be the most ambitious club opening in dance music history. UNVRS officially launched on May 30th in Ibiza, and it's absolutely wild β they're calling it the world's first "hyperclub."
The Location: Itβs built on the legendary grounds where Ku and Privilege once stood in San Rafael. The Night League (the minds behind UshuaΓ―a and HΓ― Ibiza) dropped serious money on a complete transformation that's honestly hard to believe until you see it.
What Makes It Special: A redesigned glass dome with a massive "Tree of Life" sculpture, something called the Gravity Garden, and a mini club called "The Wild Comet" inside the restrooms. Yes, you read that right.
Opening Night Madness: The launch drew a massive international crowd, and Will Smith showed up as a surprise guest after that viral UFO campaign he did for them. The venue holds 10,000 people and features next-level sound systems, aerial performances, and a lineup that reads like a festival poster β Carl Cox, David Guetta, Eric Prydz, and more.
The Bigger Picture: UNVRS represents where the industry is heading β fully immersive experiences that blend cutting-edge tech, art installations, and world-class sound design. It's setting a new standard for what clubbing can be.
Whether this "hyperclub" concept catches on globally remains to be seen, but one thing's certain β Ibiza just raised the bar again.

SHAPING THE SOUND
Studio Focus: Mastering Stereo Width Without Losing Your Low End
Let's dive into one of the most common mixing challenges in electronic music: creating width in your stereo field while keeping your track powerful and mono-compatible.
The Issue: We all want that wide, immersive sound that makes our tracks feel huge on headphones. The thing is improper widening techniques can seriously damage your mix's punch and clarity, especially when your music hits club systems or gets played in mono.
Smart Widening Strategies: The most effective approach starts with mid/side EQ processing. Tools like FabFilter Pro-Q 4 in M/S mode let you enhance the high frequencies in your side channels while keeping that essential low-end energy right down the center. This gives you sparkle and width without sacrificing the core power of your track.
Another solid technique: delay-based widening. Instead of just cranking a stereo imager, try using a short delay (10-30ms) on one channel of a duplicated signal. Plugins like Soundtoys MicroShift and Waves S1 handle this beautifully while maintaining mono compatibility.
Essential Rules: Keep everything below 150Hz in mono β your bass and kick need that centered power. And please, check your mix in mono regularly. Use Ableton's Utility or any mono monitoring plugin to hear how things collapse. If it sounds hollow or weak, you've pushed the widening too far.
Pro Monitoring: Tools like Voxengo SPAN help you visualize what's happening in your stereo field and catch phase issues before they become problems.
Remember, width is great, but a track that hits hard in mono will always translate better across different playback systems.
